BABY STEPS IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION
DOUGLASVILLE, GA—On Wednesday, June 10, Journey Girl, a mobile youth enrichment program, donated over 100 items of baby clothing, toys, books, and hygiene products for moms-to-be to the Pregnancy Resource Medical Clinic.
“It’s a beautiful thing that Journey Girl is changing the lives of families in the community and we’re thankful and glad to be a part of that,” says PRMC Volunteer Coordinator, Paula McKenzie.
Journey Girl hosted a donation drive earlier this year to benefit the PRMC’s “Mommy Store”. The program allows parents to earn “Mommy Money” and shop the store with the special credit. The credit is earned by participating in the PRMC’s parenting education classes.
Last year, the PRMC changed the lives of over 4,000 families. The PRMC offers counseling and support groups, pregnancy tests, limited ultrasound services and information on abortion alternatives for all expecting families. They also provide information on abstinence, birth contraceptives and sexually transmitted diseases.
“Our goal is to help families in need and let them know support is available in the local community. I am excited families will finally gain use of the items Journey Girl donated to the PRMC,” says Journey Girl Founder, Andrieka “AJ” Austin.
Since 2007, Journey Girl has traveled more than 2,000 miles to serve over 1,500 girls throughout the Metro Atlanta area. Ms. Austin visits birthday parties, retreats and workshops to facilitate jewelry-making events and youth enrichment sessions building self-esteem, entrepreneurism and more.
“Journey Girl is on a mission to make a positive impact in the lives of young girls and women everywhere. We are grateful for opportunities to be role models and serve Metro Atlanta in a special way,” says Austin.
